Welcome to the members' area of the Global Tree Specialist Group.
Currently these pages include the documentation required to submit a Red List Assessment and a list of all the group members.
The Assessment Form included here has been shortened slightly to exclude sections irrelevant for trees. Although still 19 pages, 15 of these are simple check boxes for habitat and threat types, conservation action and uses where known.
The essential part of the form is the first four pages, which should supply enough data for us to complete the remainder.
The IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria in current use (version 3.1) were published 2001. These can be downloaded in English, French and Spanish in pdf form from: www.iucn.org/themes/ssc/redlists/RLcats2001booklet.html
The Authority File Descriptors to help with selection of habitats, threats, conservation actions and uses can be downloaded in pdf form from: www.iucn.org/themes/ssc/sis/authority.htm
Completed Red List Assessment Datasheets can be e-mailed to GTSG at fauna-flora.org, from where they will be submitted to the IUCN Red List Programme. In most cases, however, the GTSG secretariat will send out partially completed Red List forms to those members who have identified an interest in those genera or geographical areas.
There are currently over 70 members of The Global Tree Specialist Group. The full list of members is available here: membership list
