SoundWood launched it's first ever education programme in cooperation with the 12th Aberystwyth Musicfest.
The SoundWood team, made up of festival director and world-renowned clarinettist David Campbell, composer Russell Keable and FFI staff Camila Iturra and Rudy Schlaepfer, delivered workshops through which school children explored the stories behind the woods that make their musical instruments.
Over 100 school children from Padarn Sant, Rhydypennau, Craig yr Wylfa and Penglais Comprehensive opened the week's programme of activities at the MusicFest. The formidable orchestra premiered their composition Sounds of the Forest - a piece, written by the children, drawing on themes surrounding the plight of the world's forests -and performed alongside the SoundWood wind ensemble to a packed house of music lovers and proud families and friends
