Russia

FFI has recently supported scientists from the St Petersburg and the Moscow Botanic Gardens in a vegetation survey to assess the status and distribution of the tree flora of the Choper River in the steppe zone of southern Russia. This area, home to a wide range of rare plants, is increasingly threatened by agricultural and other development activities. The project includes an evaluation of existing and potential threats and the preparation of an action plan to provide effective in situ conservation.
