British American Tobacco Biodiversity Partnership www.batbiodiversity.org
The primary objective of the Partnership is to contribute to the conservation of global biodiversity by building a portfolio of activities that assist countries in meeting their obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Established as a joint initiative between the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and Fauna & Flora International, the Flagship Species Fund provides practical support to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats in developing countries.
Flagships are high profile and charismatic species that may play a significant ecological role and often have important cultural associations. Since its inception, the Flagship Species Fund has made 104 awards to projects operating in 38 countries working with 80 local organizations involved in the conservation of 60 threatened species. Trees are currently one of the priority groups supported by the fund.

HSBC supported the work of BGCI through their Investing in Nature (IiN) programme between 2002 and 2007. The programme has helped to conserve or protect around 12,000 species of the world’s most threatened plants and establish over 80 projects.
